Liard River
Near Ft. Liard, this river flows through the Yukon Territory, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories in Canada. It rises in the Pelly Mountains, south-eastern Yukon, and flows 693 miles, southeast through British Columbia, marking the northern end of the Rocky Mountains and then curving northeast back into the Yukon and Northwest Territories. This river drains approximately 277,100 square kilometers of boreal forest and muskeg, and the area around it in the Yukon Territory is called Liard River Valley.
Along this river you can enjoy The Grand Canyon of the Liard, a spectacular 30 km stretch of the river, which begins just east of the Liard River Hotsprings, and contains numerous class IV and higher rapids.
Also, you can enjoy the Liard River Hotsprings, popular tourist attraction located at kilometer 765 of the Alaska Highway, and the historic Liard River Suspension Bridge, built in 1944, and located at kilometer 798 of the Alaska Highway too.
