New Westminster

New Westminster in Vancouver was founded by the British in 1859 to be the capital of the new colony of British Columbia, named after Queen Victoria's favorite part of London. This part of Vancouver earned the nickname "The Royal City", and you will see many houses and buildings in a Victorian style. There are many museums, like the Irving House Historic Center and the Samson V Maratime Museum; and you might want to take the Esplanade Walking Tour, starting at Westminster Quay, going for 1.6 miles along the Fraser River.

Richmond

Located south of Vancouver, comprising several islands and  protected by a system of dikes from the Fraser River's occasional flooding, Richmond has Canada's largest Asian-Canadian population by percentage. One of its landmarks is a good example of that percentage, the International Buddhist Temple; which is the most authentic example of traditional palatial Chinese architecture in North America.

Burnaby

Burnaby is a suburb of Vancouver with some interesting sites to visit, like the Simon Fraser University, that houses the Simon Fraser Gallery and the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology, where you will find Northwest Coast Indian artifacts. If you are a nature lover don't miss the Burnaby Mountain Park, there you will see the most spectacular views of Greater Vancouver, enjoy the beautiful Rose Gardens, the mountain, and the park has hiking and walking trails, picnic areas and a children's playground.

East Vancouver

East Vancouver used to be a working class neighborhood, but now it is difficult to find a house for less than $300.000. Commercial Drive is considered one of the most interesting areas of Vancouver, and Hastings Park Racetrack and  Pacific National Exhibition are very worth a visit. At the Pacific National Exhibition you will find the favorite ride of its public, the wooden roller coaster.

UBC

UBC is short for University of British Columbia and recently it has earned a nickname, "Unending Building Construction". It is located on the western edge of Vancouver, near the coast, and includes the Campus, a residential area, a commercial area and is surrounded by Pacific Spirit Park, a large Nature reserve. You can visit the UBC Museum of Anthropology, the UBC Botanical Garden with 8000 different kinds of plants in both designed landscapes and coastal forest settings, an Asian garden, alpine garden and food garden.

Queen Elizabeth Park

Queen Elizabeth Park is a municipal park in Vancouver, built over a quarry that was scarred at the turn of the 20th century, using the rocks to build Vancouver's first roadways. The Canadian Pulp and Paper Association did a generous donation to help in this project, which has been increasingly transformed by the Park staff since its creation, around 1939.

Kitsilano

Kitsilano or Kits (its nickname) is located in the northern part of the Vancouver west side, right on the beach and close to Downtown. Plenty of interesting activities to do around Kits, like visiting the H.R. MacMillan Space Center and Planetarium, go to Kits Beach and Jericho Beach, or maybe ride the Historic Railroad, which is a restored tram car that runs from Science World to Granville Island.

Downtown Vancouver

Vancouver's City Center or Downtown is the heart of the city, having a lot of residential areas in the downtown core, very similar to Manhattan. The sights here seems endless, finding something new and amazing in every corner. High rise areas like Yaletown and Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, West End, Vancouver's Chinatown... Not to mention the galleries and architectural sights! Vancouver's Downtown is definitely a must visit district of Vancouver, and more than a handfull of activities to enjoy.

Vancouver

Vancouver is the third largest city in Canada, located in British Columbia and known worldwide for its incredible natural beauty, surrounded by coastal mountains and the Pacific Ocean. It is ranked as one of the best cities to live in, and it is definitely a great tourist destination. Vancouver is a city full of life and full of beautiful places and sights, and if you arrive at night time, you'll get an amazing sight of the Lions Gate bridge, which connects Vancouver with Downtown Vancouver.

Toronto Islands

Toronto Islands is a small island chain in Toronto harbor and home of a small residential community, with an airport, miles of bike trails, picnic grounds and even a clothing-optional beach, Hanlan's Point Beach. Don't miss the Gibraltar Point lighthouse, dates from 1808, and according to the legend it is haunted by its first keeper, J.P. Radan Muller, who disappeared one day in 1815 and his skeletal remains were found years later, by next keeper. It is believed that the first keeper was beaten to death by soldiers from nearby Fort York.
