New Westminster

New_westminster New Westminster in Vancouver was founded by the British in 1859 to be the capital of the new colony of British Columbia, named after Queen Victoria's favorite part of London. This part of Vancouver earned the nickname "The Royal City", and you will see many houses and buildings in a Victorian style. There are many museums, like the Irving House Historic Center and the Samson V Maratime Museum; and you might want to take the Esplanade Walking Tour, starting at Westminster Quay, going for 1.6 miles along the Fraser River.
